2022 Election

Members of Parliament

to

Watch

CCD's research has lead us to conclude that some candidates in the 2022 federal election do not share our belief in a pro-democracy foreign policy. Some politicians have consistently failed to support our democratic allies, particularly the United States, Israel, India and Taiwan, while courting their terrorist enemies. If you believe that an ethical, pro-democracy foreign policy is an essential part of a free and secure Canada, you may wish to consider the track record of these candidates when you vote on June 28. If you have a question for one of the candidates and you want to send an official letter, contact the memo writing service for help, the authors will help you form the right request in compliance with all the rules. So your chances of a quick reaction will increase significantly.

June 29 - All of these candidates have been re-elected by Ontario voters. It would appear that being anti-Israel and anti-American are not political handicaps in this province. Perhaps foreign policy is of no interest to voters, and the horrors of New York, Madrid, Jerusalem, Bali, and countless other places around the globe are events that they believe will never happen in Toronto or Windsor or Ottawa.

Why have these particular candidates been identified as anti-democratic in their foreign policy positions? CCD is non-partisan in terms of political parties -- we have neither loyalty nor antipathy to any party. We believe that all parties have the capacity to espouse an ethical foreign policy, and to defend beleaguered nations and peoples who respect democracy and human life. Our only loyalty is to those principles, and we believe that, when judged against these standards, this group of candidates has consistently promoted a foreign policy that fails to reflect Canadian democratic values and respect for human life.

  • “The only country that's not on the side of Palestine is the United States of America" Source

  • Of the assassination of arch-terrorist , Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, Parrish said "This brutal, violent and provocative murder perpetrated by the government of Israel, flies in the face of international law and human decency ….. Summary execution of an unarmed, disabled cleric shows total disregard for civil law and basic human rights” Source

  • Of the point-blank murder of a pregnant Jewish mother and her 4 children by Palestinian terrorists, Parrish said nothing. She has had the same forceful comment for other terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians.

  • “[Hezbollah’s social agencies are] innocent doctors, teachers, and other people seeking to do charitable and other good works”. Source

  • As foreign affairs minister, Bill Graham supports a policy that bans senior government representative from democratic Taiwan from being received in Canada, in order not to upset un-democratic China. Source

  • In Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe's henchmen murdered over 30 opposition candidates. Mugabe then charged the leader of the democratic opposition, Morgan Tsvangirai, with high treason punishable by death. Mr. Graham said that charging Mr. Tsvangirai with high treason was not, in itself, enough to trigger punishment by the Commonwealth. Source

  • Ordered the Canadian Ambassador to Israel, Donald Sinclair, not to visit the grieving family of a Canadian Jew, Yechezkel Goldberg, murdered by a Palestinian terrorist on a bus in Jerusalem. Why? Because this Jewish family lived in a place that both Bill Graham and the terrorists believed should be Jew-free. Source

  • On expediting the return of the Khadr family to Canada, a self-acknowledged al-Qaeda terrorist family who had "lost" Canadian passports in Pakistan, "The Khadrs have citizenship and they're entitled to that." Source

  • Oversees DFA that asserts "Since ... 1993, Canada has contributed more than $215 million in support of Palestinian development and to address the humanitarian needs of Palestinian refugees" while "B’nai Brith Canada has asked the Government [without success] to investigate whether Canadian humanitarian aid to the Palestinians is being diverted to incite hatred and violence and support acts of terrorism" Source  Source

  • In implicating Israel as a cause of Muslim hatred and terrorism around the world, "Addressing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is central to prospects for further co-operation between Western and Muslim countries." Source

  • On May 18, 2022, Bill Graham, Minister of Foreign Affairs, was the star speaker at a fundraising event for Carolyn Parrish in Mississauga, enthusiastically endorsing her positions on Canadian foreign policy. Source

  • "By creating the illusion that this unproven technology [National Missile Defense] can offer immunity from attack through 100% surety that America and its chosen allies can be defended, the United States would be in a position of taking aggressive, preemptive action against all nations, weak and strong alike."  Source

  • Monday, April 22, 2002 “It's been quite a week. We wake up one morning and discover in our newspaper that Canada is now under the military command of a U.S. proconsul. Sound familiar? Remember when Douglas MacArthur ruled Japan after the Second World War as American proconsul? Or when Julius Caesar ruled the defeated province of Gaul as Roman proconsul?” Source

  • "George Bush has declared that the war on terrorism is the cause of his generation. National sovereignty will be the cause of ours [in Canada]." Source

  • "if we had missile defence at the present moment, [the Americans] might well be bolder in dealing with North Korea in a way that would be dangerous for the world." Does this mean we are safer if the US is defenseless against incoming missiles? Source

  • "it is just and equitable that Canadians who are heirs to loyalists whose property was confiscated, stolen or destroyed by the American revolutionaries should be afforded the same assistance as is provided by the United States government to its citizens who have had property in Cuba confiscated by the revolutionary government there, in our bill [Godfrey-Milliken bill] we are going to apply exactly the same sanctions."  A praiseworthy satire of a predictable target. Source

  • “And the United States, because of its unique position and because of its unique history, views itself as outside the rules. They have done so since the... since the 19th century. So what do you do in the face of such a country? Particularly when the country is not doing the right thing…" Source
