Yesterday, a Jewish school in Montreal was was fire-bombed in a scene reminiscent of Kristallnacht. The perpetrators left a note saying that these attacks on Jews in Canada were a consequence of the attackers' displeasure over Israel. This event followed the vandalism of Jewish homes and cemeteries in Toronto the week before, including painting a swastika on the home of an elderly Holocaust survivor.
Clearly, the atmosphere in Canada is such that these Nazis feel their actions will bring sympathy, not punishment. Should we be surprised when the vilification of Israel and the United States has become the national sport of many of our politicians, so-called intellectuals, trade unions, and our public broadcaster?
