I have read The Independent occasionally in the UK, but I have no real idea of where it fits on the political spectrum. One of their favorite contributors is Robert Fisk, a verteran Israel-hater. Fisk will twist reality into a knot to prove that Israel and the US are wrong no matter what happens in the real world. The good news is that the number of "ignorant brutes" seems to be in decline and the paper is bleeding red ink. See link below:
