I had a different interpretation. If Pettigrew laid a wreath to honor both vitims of the Holocaust as well as to honor Yasser Arafat, what did his "honor" of Holocaust victims really mean?
By way of analogy, imagine an upsurge in anti-Semitism by neo-Nazis in Germany. Would it help the situation if Pierre Pettigrew laid a wreath to honor the memory of Adof Hitler? Would this discourage the neo-Nazis, or tell them that the government of Canada understands and sympathizes with their hatred of Jews?
Remember that only Hitler was responsible for killing more Jews than Arafat.
CCD will praise our government to the sky when it takes clear and unequivocal action (not just words) that will bring peace to the Middle East. So Far, that has not happened.
